Clinic Overview
It is the large number of excellently rated clinics of the Dresden University Hospital, which have ensured the top position in the Focus Ranking. Newsmagazine evaluated a total of 18 disciplines. Clinics of the university clinic were able to enter the respective top group eleven times - for example, the clinic for visceral, thoracic and vascular surgery, the medical clinic I (colorectal cancer), the clinic for urology (prostate cancer), the clinic for neurosurgery Brain tumors) or the Department of Neurology (Parkinson). There was also a top note in the "Patient satisfaction" category: the university clinic of the University of Dresden achieved 88 points, leaving the two uniclinics from Berlin (77 points) and Munich (83 points) in the overall ranking.
In the analysis of the data from the quality reports of the hospitals, the experience in the form of case numbers or forms of therapy was taken into account as well as the treatment success and complication rates during surgery. In addition, the Focus asked 14,000 home and medical practitioners as well as chief physicians who recommended hospitals to their patients. In addition, the technical equipment and the number of doctors supervised were also included in the assessment, as did the qualification of the nurses. These data were supplemented by a detailed questionnaire, which the hospitals had to answer.
"The current ranking shows that the clinic has managed to firmly establish itself in the top group of German hospitals. The basis for this are highly trained employees in all professional groups as well as a top infrastructure. This allows us to provide our patients with the highest quality and the latest state of the art, "says Prof. Michael Albrecht, Medical Director of the University Hospital and at the same time Chairman of the Board of the Association of German Uniklinika (VUD).
The strength of Dresdner Hochschulmedizin is the close link between health care and research. One of many examples of this is cancer medicine, which is concentrated in the University of Cancer Center. In addition to Heidelberg, the clinic and faculty were appointed the only partner center of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in 2015. The associated funding by the federal government makes an important contribution to the possibility of offering individualized therapies to patients. A new domicile for the NCT Dresden is now being built on the Klinikum campus, in the future patient-oriented research and healthcare will take place under one roof. Other lighthouses of the Dresden University Medical Center include the University Proton Therapy and the House 32, which is also under construction, which will house modern surgical rooms, surgical emergency rooms as well as intensive and standard rooms.
The clinics for breast cancer, the clinic for urology in prostate cancer, the clinic for neurosurgery in brain tumors, as well as the clinic for visceral, thoracic and vascular surgery, as well as the medical clinic, are among the most widely recognized treatment centers for cancer patients I in the treatment of colon cancer patients.
